Rachmaninoff: Elegie Op. 3 No. 1 - Double Bass & Piano

Elégie in E flat minor is the first in a set of Five Fantasty Pieces, Morceaux de fantaisie, Op. 3. Originally scored for piano it is here arranged for double bass and piano.

Elégie has a wonderful melody, beautiful harmonies and some dramatic moments in the middle section. The lamenting, gentle melody suits the double bass well being transposed in the written key of D minor.

Included is a bass part and piano score both in orchestra tuning and solo tuning. It may also be performed in scordatura Eb-Bb-Eb-Ab in the original key by using the cello score available at IMSLP:
