Prelude in D major is the fourth of Ten Preludes op. 23 for solo piano by Rachmaninoff. It is essentially a nocturne, with a constantly flowing accompaniment and a beautiful gentle melody on top. Played on double bass, the melody can really sing out, and brings out the warm and lyrical qualities of the instrument.
Included is a piano score and bass part in both orchestra tuning (D major) and solo tuning (E major).
